Professional Biography
Dr. Sylvia Henga is a Food Systems Resilience and Policy Expert, Climate Smart Agriculture specialist, Plant Breeder, and Seed Scientist with over 20 years of experience working with technical and development agencies across East and Southern Africa. She brings deep expertise in climate smart agriculture, seed systems, soil health, and genetic resources conservation, and has served as a lecturer and researcher as well as a consultant for international food security and agricultural programs. Dr. Henga has developed policy frameworks at regional and continental level, led the creation of Climate Smart Agriculture Hubs, facilitated e-learning programs, supervised postgraduate students, and provided technical leadership in seed sovereignty, agroecology, and indigenous crop breeding. She is also experienced in grant management, strategic partnerships, and trade and market initiatives.
