Professional Biography
Edward Mare Muya is a Land Resources Specialist with extensive expertise in soil health and water management for controlled ecosystem degradation and promotion of regenerative agriculture through efficient and sustainable use of limited land and water resources.
He has focused on natural resources management, monitoring and evaluation, using agro-ecology principles of holistic and sustainable approaches to farming and food systems. He has achieved this through demand-driven agro-ecosystems analysis to provide data to facilitate the formulation of context-specific technology packages for restoration of degraded ecosystems for enhanced integration of biodiversity, natural resource utilization and social equity.
Edward has worked to translate the results of these activities into practice through applied research, training, and development of demand-driven training materials on sustainable and efficient ecosystem management locally and internationally. His work spans over four decades of professional experience with organizations including GFA Consulting Group, National Irrigation Authority (NIA), FAO, World Bank, and the Kenya Ministry of Agriculture across irrigation development, soil survey, land evaluation, and climate-smart agriculture projects.
